Two trains A and B leave Kolkata for Sikkim at 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. respectively and run at 90 km per hour and 120 km per hour respectively at what distance from Kolkata will the two trains meet ?
Answer:
First calculate the distance travelled between 8:00-8:30 by trainA
=>90×30/60=45k.m.
we know that distance =time×speed
so we take next time as x
then 90x+45=120x
120x-90x=45
30x=45
x=3/2or 1.5
so after 1hr30 min A and B meet
According to Question B meets A at the distance from Kolkata,
=Distance=Speed×Time
=Distance of B×1.5hrs
=120×1.5=180Km.
